- We have strategically invested 10.3 million dollars in Workforce Development. The investment impact has been notable in spite of challenging economic times. With 2,000 residents placed with an average salary of approximately $22,464 the economic impact has been just over 47.6 million dollars. This 450% return on investment is significant by any measure.
- Over 6,000 EZ residents have been served including homeless, families in transition, ex-offenders, at risk youth, and individuals in a number of vocations pursuing the next step up the career ladder or embarking upon new careers.
- Our Business Development investment of approximately 3 million dollars generated a New Haven economic impact of 6.9 million dollars with over 1,000 businesses being served.
- The Emergency Repair and New Haven Beautiful Programs investments of $787,000 stimulated a 12.5 million dollar impact and 100% of the EZ Homeowners remained in their homes.
- MI HomePower was the first homeownership program of its kind. It was designed to expand homeownership by promoting quality, safe, and affordable home buying in order to support community and neighborhood revitalization and discourage abusive and predatory lending practices. Since June of 2006, our MI HomePower first time homeowner’s investment of $197,946 has leveraged real estate purchases in the amount of $3,590,900.
- During the 2004-2006 first phase of Emergency Repair and New Haven Beautiful Program we leveraged a $58,000 investment into repairs totaling $848,000 ensuring that 65 homeowners remained on their properties values at $8.5 million dollars. Similarly, New Haven Beautiful Program ensured that 32 homeowners retainer their collective $4 million dollar value of their property.
- Since 2002 in spite of the affordable housing crisis in Connecticut our Individual Development Account Savings Investment of $525,000 has enabled 108 homeowners to purchase real estate with a market value of $8,428,489. The Empowerment Zone Individual Development Account was the largest and most successful IDA in Connecticut.
- Our financial partnership in the New Haven Economic Security Coalition and in the Coalition of Working Families has enabled low income residents to secure over $2,000,000 in tax return refunds.
- The New Haven Non-Profit Academy has invested $1,428,000 into New Haven’s Community Development and Emerging Organizations. This has brought an 85% return to the community. NHNPA Participants have leveraged their technical assistance and mini grants to garner new funds. For example, Christian Community Action won $91,000 in new grant based funding. Youth Rights Media increased its beneficiaries by 60% after re-evaluating its strategic plan, and Community Mediation successfully obtained a $96,645 grant after participating in the New Haven Non-Profit Academy.
