Empower New Haven launches the Building Contractors Training and Mentorship Program

  Empower New Haven is proud to launch The Building Contractors and
Mentorship Program for EZ residents in partnership with Gateway
Community College, Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, Greater New
Haven Business and Professional Association, Spanish American Merchants
Association, City of New Haven-Small Business Initiative and  City of
New Haven-Commission on Equal Opportunity.
 
    This initiative will be composed of three resource centers, a
 one-on-one mentorship program, small group-classroom instruction,
additional funding for capacity building for all class participants
and  a $250 Gift Card to Home Depot/LOWE's to those who complete
classes.
 
  The series of 11 classes are geared to emerging contractors focusing
on the  essentials of business in the construction sector. The
one-on-one mentorship component allows each participant to focus on his
or her specific needs. And the resource centers are located throughout
New Haven for accessibility. Additional funding is also available to
enroll in technical classes or purchase tools for capacity building

Building Contractors Training and Mentorship Program. on Thursday,
September 7, 2006, at 6 PM, 27th Floor Conference Center/ Bank Of
